🗓️ Your Next CNRS alumni Webinar !
Join us on Wednesday, March 11, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for a new "webi-sandwich" dedicated to scientific culture.
This month, we will welcome our alumni colleague Gilles Boëtsch, an anthropologist, emeritus research director at CNRS, and former president of the CNRS Scientific Council.
As co-director of the International Human-Environment Observatory (OHMI) Téssékéré, Gilles will present the Great Green Wall project—an initiative dedicated to combating desertification in the Saharo-Sahelian regions. The core idea is to create a "wall of trees" stretching from east to west across the African desert. The overarching goal is to help curb desert expansion and promote the sustainable development of Saharo-Sahelian areas through responsible natural resource management and poverty alleviation. Launched in 2005, the project encompasses extensive research on health, water and soil, biodiversity, and social systems.
