🗓️ Your Next CNRS alumni Webinar !
Join us on Thursday, January 15, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for a new "webi-sandwich" dedicated to scientific culture .
This month, we’re hopping into a time machine for a journey over 36,000 years back in time! Our destination: the Ardèche region, where we’ll explore the Chauvet Cave, a true archaeological gem of the Paleolithic era .
Guided by Carole Fritz — archaeologist, CNRS research director at the Laboratory of Molecular and Structural Archaeology (LAMS), and director of the Chauvet Cave research team since 2018 — we’ll dive into the daily lives of the researchers who continue to uncover the secrets of this site, discovered just 30 years ago .
A multidisciplinary team has been studying the cave since 1998, with a multitude of different approaches: archaeology of the cave floor and walls, palaeoenvironmental analysis, zooarchaeology, carbon dating, cultural anthropology, geomorphology… The successor of Jean Clottes and Jean-Michel Geneste is now Carole Fritz, who leads the team of international and interdisciplinary scientists. .
